"Play is the language and toys are the words"Garry Landreth

About me

My name is Anat, and I am a certified psychotherapist specializing in play therapy for children. I believe in the power of play as a natural and deep healing tool that allows children to express their feelings and find creative solutions to their difficulties. I am here to accompany your children on their journey toward better feelings and better mental health.

Play is the most natural way for children to express themselves. Through play, children express their inner world, organize their thoughts and reveal feelings and content they find hard to put into words. Children have an innate drive toward growth and maturity. Play makes it easier to develop this ability and lets them experience control over their world, organize their thoughts and reach insights, even without words.

Alongside my work with children and parents, I also work with couples in EFT couples therapy, which I studied at Bar-Ilan University. Sessions take place at the clinic in Ra'anana or on Zoom. About couples therapy

What is play therapy for children?

Wooden toys and a rainbow in a playroom

Play therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that helps children explore their lives and freely express repressed thoughts and feelings through play. Therapeutic play takes place in a safe, comfortable playroom where very few rules or limits are placed on the child, encouraging free expression.

  • A safe playroom

Very few rules or limits, to encourage free expression.

  • The goal

To help children learn to express themselves in healthier ways, be more respectful, overcome frustration and discover new, positive ways to solve problems.

  • Many challenges

Play therapy helps children cope better with a wide range of emotional challenges.

Common difficulties in children

Emotional play therapy is offered as a response to a range of emotional difficulties. Emotional problems and distress in children show up as harm to the child's normal functioning and as social, family and personal difficulties at home, at school and in kindergarten.

Beyond the distress and suffering that children and their parents experience, an emotional difficulty can also become an obstacle to healthy development and to fitting in at kindergarten and school.

Play therapy helps children with a wide range of emotional difficulties:

  • Anxiety of various kinds
  • Anger outbursts and aggression
  • Difficulty with boundaries
  • Sleep problems
  • Fears
  • Parental divorce and separation
  • Improving self-image
  • Building self-confidence
  • Strengthening social skills
  • Various traumas
  • Loss and grief
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorders

And more.

It is important to remember: the earlier you seek professional help, the sooner you and your children will feel emotional and behavioral relief.

Services at the clinic in Ra'anana

  • Individual emotional play therapy

Therapy designed to address emotional difficulties through play. In the therapy room, children receive a response to their emotional distress and learn to adopt new ways to change and to grow personally, socially and within the family.

  • Group therapy for social skills

Therapeutic groups for building social skills. Group therapy helps children learn to read social situations correctly, develop emotional and social resilience, ease social anxiety, improve their self-image and gain tools for building lasting friendships.

  • Parent guidance

Guidance and support for parents improve the ability to cope with the challenges of parenting and help in understanding children's emotional needs. Parent guidance helps you understand how to communicate with children within their own world, and how play can be used to strengthen your bond, set boundaries without punishment, build self-confidence and raise emotional intelligence.

What parents say

Anat Malkian's professionalism and sensitivity helped my daughter overcome the emotional difficulties she suffered from. With patience and sensitivity, alongside the parent guidance we received from Anat, Lian is in a different place today. She is surrounded by friends, her behavior has improved, the anger has eased and she no longer wakes up at night. Thank you, Anat Malkian.
